Abstract - Comparison of coulter counting and plate counting of bacterie in raw milk
Our experiment based on 39 samples of raw milk shows a better reproductibility for the Coulter counts and a correlation between both methods of: 0,896.
A better and standardized procedure should be considered: it would certainly improve the reproductibility, which can't be expected from the tested plate count method.
Accordingly for the regular examination of large number of milk samples ( + 250 a day), the Electronic Coulter counting technic offers a reasonably good prospect deserving further studies and developments
